[mdtoday = Reporter Kim Gyo-sik] San Francisco Giants outfielder Lee Jeong-hoo, sidelined with a lower-back muscle strain, could be activated as soon as this weekend.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported on the 27th (local time) that Lee resumed full training that day.

He’s expected to be available for the Giants’ road game at the Colorado Rockies on the 30th. Giants manager Tony Vitello said in a pregame interview ahead of the home game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, “I hope Lee can finish his preparations and be ready to return this weekend.”

Lee exited the May 19 road game at Arizona after reporting back pain. At the time, he was 1-for-2 and riding a five-game hitting streak. After missing two contests, the team placed him on the 10-day injured list on the 23rd.

Following a slow start that saw his batting average dip into the .100s, Lee regained his timing late last month and put together a rebound at the plate.

Because he had been trending upward before the injury, local observers are paying close attention to how his return could impact the Giants. The club says it will closely monitor his condition and finalize his activation date when appropriate.
