Translation result2일 [Herald Business = Reporter Jeon Sae-nal] The 2026 Seoul International Garden Expo pulled in more than 300,000 visitors on opening day, marking the largest opening-day turnout in the event’s history.

Seoul City said on May 2 that counters at the venues recorded a total of 306,548 visitors: 251,813 at Seoul Forest and 54,735 at Seongsu-dong’s Seongsu Custom Shoes Park.

The expo, which began in 2015, recorded its highest-ever first-day attendance this year.

The city noted the actual figure is likely higher once visitors who also explored the smaller gardens near the main sites are included.

This year, Seoul staged a record 167 gardens covering 90,000 m² (about 970,000 sq ft, or roughly 22.2 acres) across Seoul Forest, Seongsu-dong and the Gwangjin District, and will run the expo for a record-long 180 days.

So far, the Pokémon Garden and the Kakao Garden have been the biggest draws. The Pokémon Garden attracted large crowds around 10 a.m. on opening day for a stamp rally tied to a Seongsu pop-up; Pokémon Korea, the organizer, stopped that activity around 11:50 a.m. after coordinating with the city.

Kim Young-hwan, director of Seoul’s Garden City Bureau, said, “We will review visitors’ comments and requests in detail to make the rest of the expo more satisfying.”
