Honda cancels development of 0-series sedan and SUV, and Acura RSX — ¥2.5 trillion hit (≈ $16.75 billion; about 22.5 trillion KRW ≈ $16.875 billion)
Honda has scrapped plans to develop and launch three new electric models that were intended for the North American market, citing a slowdown in EV demand. The company says it will record roughly ¥2.5 trillion (≈ $16.75 billion; about 22.5 trillion KRW ≈ $16.875 billion) in losses and related costs.
◆ 0-series Saloon and SUV, and Acura RSX canceled

Honda has canceled three vehicles that were positioned as its next-generation EV lineup: the 0-series Saloon, the 0-series SUV and the Acura-branded RSX crossover. The 0-series Saloon, noted for its distinctive styling, was scheduled to arrive in North America in 2027. The 0-series SUV was a crossover EV planned to run Honda’s new ASIMO OS. Honda intended the 0 series to underscore a refreshed brand identity for the EV era and to shift toward EV-centric badging beginning in 2027.
Production of the Acura RSX, which had been slated to start later this year, has also been canceled. Honda had planned to revive the RSX name as a sporty, coupe-like SUV with dual motors and all-wheel drive, but the program will not proceed.
◆ Strategic move after EV demand slows… focusing on HYBE-led models

In a statement, Honda said it judged that launching production and sales for these models in a market with sharply weakening EV demand would likely lead to further long-term losses. To improve near-term profitability, the company reviewed several options and decided to cancel its U.S. production and launch plans.
All three models had been slated for production at Honda’s Ohio plant, and the cancellations are expected to affect operations there. The automaker says it will reassess its EV mix going forward and shift greater focus to HYBE-led models.
