Hyundai Motor Co. confirmed a safety defect in the power-operated seats of its full-size SUV, the All-New Palisade, and has temporarily halted sales of certain trims.

On March 14, the company said its investigation found that during folding of the Palisade’s second- and third-row power seats, the system may under some conditions fail to detect contact with occupants or objects. As a result, Hyundai has paused sales of the affected configurations.

Ohio authorities reported that a 2-year-old girl died in an incident linked to a power seat.

Hyundai said it will enhance the power seats’ anti‑pinch protection before resuming sales. The company will conduct a voluntary recall for vehicles already in service and plans to notify South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) next week.

Planned fixes include increasing the sensitivity of sensors that detect occupants and objects and restricting the power-seat folding function so it operates only when the tailgate is open, improving overall system safety.

The recall will cover vehicles produced through March 11, 2026, and is expected to include about 57,474 units in South Korea and roughly 74,965 units in North America.

The All-New Palisade was exported in about 100,000 units worldwide last year, and it recorded domestic sales of 59,506 units.
