Chevrolet will fit its flagship sports car, the Corvette C8, with a new naturally aspirated V8JPY(about 0$).

The newly unveiled 6.7-liter LS6 V8JPY(about 0$) completely replaces the outgoing 6.2-liter LT2JPY(about 0$), representing a generational shift rather than a simple upgrade.

Industry observers view this as a core change that redefines the Corvette lineup’s performance and character.

The new LS6JPY(about 0$) produces 542 hp and 705 N·m of torque (about 519 lb-ft).

Power and torque both improve over the LT2, and the compression ratio jumps from 11.5 to 13.0.

Fuel delivery switches from pure direct injection to a combined port-and-direct injection system, boosting efficiency and on-boost response.

While retaining a traditional OHV layout, the LS6 incorporates modern engineering solutions to bring its performance and efficiency up to contemporary standards.

The new engine will serve as the centerpiece of a revived Grand Sport model.

The Grand Sport is positioned between the base Stingray and the track-focused Z06, aiming to strike a balance between everyday usability and circuit capability.

It rides on the Z06’s wide-body architecture but is tuned for more practical, everyday performance, and is expected to be a key part of the Corvette range.

The Grand Sport name, rooted in Corvette’s racing history, is being brought back.

An all-wheel-drive HYBE model called the Grand Sport X will also debut.

A front-mounted electric motor paired with the LS6JPY(about 0$) engine will produce a combined system output of up to 731 hp.

This model will replace the current Corvette E-Ray, strengthening both performance and electrification in the range.

Analysts say Corvette is preserving the traditional naturally aspirated character while integrating electrification, carving out a unique position in the sports-car market.
