Hankook Tire & Technology (Hankook Tire) said on March 30 it will introduce two new sizes of its Smartflex AH51+ front-axle tire for large cargo trucks and tractor units in South Korea.
The new sizes are 295/80R22.5 and 315/80R22.5. With this launch, the Smartflex AH51+ lineup expands to three sizes, including the existing 385/65R22.5.
The new options widen the section width to 295 mm (11.6 in) and 315 mm (12.4 in) and increase the aspect ratio to 80.
Both new models incorporate Hankook’s TBR (truck and bus tire) Smartec technology, which enhances safety, mileage, chip-and-cut resistance, retreadability and braking performance.
The tires use a four-belt construction that wraps approximately 300 meters (984 ft) of high-strength wire at the same angle as the rolling direction, combined with an optimized carcass and bead structure and a new bead-specific compound.
They also feature a “hidden groove” tread pattern that evolves as the tread wears, improving mileage, traction and wet braking performance.
