Chery has released images ahead of the mid-cycle refresh for its flagship SUV, the Tigo 9.
The update goes well beyond a simple styling tweak: Chery has overhauled both the exterior and the cabin.
At the front, new headlamps feature L-shaped LED daytime running lights. While the vertical grille remains, the number of bars has been reduced and the opening widened to give the front end a more rugged stance.
Meanwhile, reports indicate the Tigo 9 will share a platform with the K‑General Motors Rexton full redesign successor, drawing interest from domestic buyers.

Improved Market Appeal
The facelift includes modest changes to the vehicle’s dimensions.
Overall length increases by 33 mm to 4,853 mm, and height rises to 1,730 mm.
Width remains at 1,930 mm and wheelbase stays at 2,820 mm.
Those measurements place the Tigo 9 in the mid-size segment, comparable to the Sorento and Santa Fe, a class that is highly popular in Korea.

Dual Displays Added
The cabin has been completely redesigned.
Images released to local media show a reworked dashboard, steering wheel, center console and door panels.
Notably, Chery has moved away from a single integrated screen and now uses a standalone instrument cluster plus a twin-display layout, reflecting the market shift toward digital-centric interiors.
Chery will continue to offer both five- and seven-seat configurations to cover a range of customer needs.
261-hp Gasoline and PHEV Lineup Remains
The powertrain lineup largely carries over from the current model.
The gasoline variant uses a 2.0-liter turbo that produces 261 hp. Front-wheel-drive versions pair with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, while all-wheel-drive models use an 8-speed automatic.
Chery will also offer a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). Like before, it pairs a 1.5-liter turbo with an electric motor, and battery capacity will determine range and performance.
Notably, the PHEV will feature a windshield-mounted LiDAR-based driver-assistance system.

Industry observers are paying close attention to ties with the K‑General Motors Rexton successor.
Given the technical collaboration between K‑General Motors and Chery, the next-generation Rexton is likely to share the Tigo 9’s platform and powertrains.
If the PHEV system, next‑generation electronic architecture and SDV-based technologies are applied, the Rexton’s competitiveness could improve significantly over the current model.
As a result, the Tigo 9 could emerge as a benchmark for the domestic large-SUV segment rather than just another new model.
