Xiaomi’s electric sedan, the SU7, has drawn a rapid market response. Orders have surpassed 40,000 since the model’s debut, signaling a strong early commercial performance.

The SU7 officially launched on March 19, with first deliveries beginning just four days later. Initial bookings topped 30,000.

That brisk pace has reinforced Xiaomi’s foothold in China’s electric-vehicle market.

Xiaomi began handovers at launch after ramping up pre-production to ensure supply.

The company delivered more than 7,000 units within nine days — an unusually fast cadence for the industry.

March deliveries exceeded 20,000, underscoring Xiaomi’s production and distribution capabilities.

Maintaining Price Competitiveness

The SU7’s base price starts at about 219,900 CNY (about $31,951) (about 48,000,000 KRW (about $31,680)).

That pricing keeps the model competitive and has put pressure on rivals like Tesla.

More than 60% of buyers were replacing an existing vehicle or purchasing an additional car, and many reported choosing the SU7 without comparison shopping — a sign of solid brand loyalty.

Emphasizing Safety and Technology

Expanding Growth Targets

Xiaomi has highlighted the SU7’s safety, saying high-strength materials account for more than 90% of the body structure.

The company also upgraded battery safety and structural protection, emphasizing its technical competitiveness.

Xiaomi has set an ambitious 2026 sales target of 550,000 units, reflecting a major year-over-year growth plan.

The company has also outlined a global rollout. If the SU7 reaches local markets, many expect it could compete as a value-oriented alternative to Tesla.
