Hyundai is broadening its in-vehicle infotainment offering with new display themes that showcase popular South Korean characters.

The new lineup includes Pororo, Tayo and Janmang Loopy (three themes) — Hyundai’s first collaboration featuring homegrown characters.

The move reflects a growing trend to treat cars as content platforms, changing how drivers and passengers experience a vehicle.

Applied themes transform the vehicle’s overall user experience — characters appear in startup animations, the instrument cluster and navigation screens.

It’s more than swapping a background; story elements are woven throughout the vehicle interface.

The approach strengthens emotion-driven experiences and is designed to appeal to families and younger buyers alike.

From Pokémon to Domestic Characters…

Hyundai previously rolled out a Pokémon theme, which generated positive customer feedback.

Now the company is expanding into domestic IP to diversify its content offerings.

The themes are available for purchase through the My Hyundai app and the Blue Link Store.

This paid in-car content model is gaining traction and could broaden Hyundai’s software-driven revenue streams.

Hyundai plans to apply the themes to key models including the Ioniq 6, Sonata and Nexo.

The company will extend the themes to vehicles equipped with ccNC infotainment and deliver them via over-the-air updates.

The shift underscores an industrywide move from hardware-centric cars to software-centered platforms.

Hyundai is positioning its vehicles to be experience platforms rather than just means of transportation.
